What is an All-In-One Computer
An all-in-one computer is one where the monitor and CPU are part of one unit
so you do not have a CPU tower and a separate monitor that takes up more space as with the traditional desktop computers and it also has not messy cables and connection wires.
Some people believe that there is no difference between an all-in-one desktop computer and a traditional desktop computer. There is a difference. The traditional desktop computer is known for its size. It can take up a lot of room when you have a limited amount of space. Your have to deal with the CPU tower and the monitor. There is also the option of a printer...if you have one.
The good thing about a traditional desktop computer is that there is plenty of room for expansion such as adding a hard drive or more memory. With an all-in-one desktop, they are very compact and there really isn't room for expansion.
The other con to the all-in-ones is the fact that they are made with notebook
components to make them smaller.
However, the all-in-one has a lot of pros to make up for the lacking areas. They Have no cables except for the power and accessories such as a printer whereas the traditional desktop can clutter the space under your computer stand with cables if your not careful.
The big factor for the all-in-one desktop is it's ability to provide you with much more room because it eliminates the need for a CPU tower, monitor, and cables. Another factor that might sway you to the all-in-one side is the fact that the notebook computer components that are used require less power and generate less heat and saving power is a big issue in today's economy. The choice is up to you. (Image: Apple iMac All-In-One)
There are many traditional desktop computers that have bee
n made smaller by cutting down the size of the CPU tower and monitor, but you still have the cables.
The all-in-one is more efficient, but less upgradeable. If you are not a hardcore computer user i would recommend the all-in-one because it is more energy efficient and smaller. However, if you are an extreme gamer or software user you should stick with the traditional desktop for upgradeability.
